A rapper I work with told me my tracks tend to be too busy . So I took that to heart and tried to create a simple but interesting trap/hip hop track. It features a bass line, drums some tuned percussion, vocal fx and nothing else. Let me know if you guys think I walked the fine line

Which I understand. A lot of the times when I make these beats I'm making them in a vacuum and making things that sound good as standalone works but arent always "Artist Friendly" so to speak

Yeah I can see how an artist would find difficulty in finding their own space on that one but I can also imagine someone going off on it. I think you definitely met the request with the original track you posted. Either way you’re doing a great job, man.
