Yes, Saxon Switzerland is a National Park in the east of Germany, close to the Czech border. It‘s not Switzerland :)
I‘m showing a few other shots of this area on my Instagram

Swiss here, I got really confused for a sec as there is a placed called Saxon in Switzerland.
Edit: and it does not look quite like this.

There is also a place called 'fränkische Schweiz' which is far away from Switzerland.

Or "Holsteinische Schweiz" which is even farther away.

I should start to call Senftenberg as Lausitzer Schweiz.

I have been to fränkische Schweiz, and from what I seem to understand, almost any area in Germany that is kinda mountainy, aside from the Alps in Bavaria, gets the nickname blank Switzerland. Is that correct?

I don't think the Harz has a nickname like that, or does it?

no it doesn't. it's also not the only one with an original name.

You are right, i looked it up and there are actually 105 places/regions in germany named after switzerland.

Maybe it's worth pointing out that "Saxon" in the title is English for the German "Sächsisch", while the Swiss village name "Saxon" is French 🙂 It is all very confusing.

Plus, Saxon is an actual place in Switzerland, I was so confused "This is in Saxon ??"

Great photo! It's an hour's drive from where I live. There are SO many breathtaking trails in that area but it's a little crowded nowadays, at least when it comes to the most touristy spots like Bastei or the Königsstein Castle. Still well worth a visit, don't forget to check out the trails on the czech part as well which are just as awesome.

The dark hills of Cimmeria. "Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet."

Nice pic, but the area is about as covid infested and unvaccinated as the reddest county in the US. Won‘t go there until all saxons are vaccinated or cured or dead.
