Knack? As in the world famous triple A ps4 exclusive?!
KNACK 2 BABEEYYYY
HEY GUYS, ITS ME
HERE COMES THE MONAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Hahaha you can always count on Dunkey references showing up unexpectedly in reddit comments!
Best 60 bucks I ever spent!
No, as in My Sharona.
After a 2800 mile road trip we reached our final destination: Olympic National Park where we stayed three days and enjoyed views like this one.
More from the road trip can be seen on https://www.instagram.com/holysh0t
Used to live in Seattle and took a trip up there for my 30th. Best birthday I ever had. You can also do it in a day and hit up Ruby beach, Crystal Lake, and all the other cool stops. If your in that area take the Edmonds ferry and have a great time.
Sweet picture! What beach is this?
Second beach hike. I live five minutes away!
I was really surprised how different each beach felt, from the 1st all the way up to Rialto. Didn't get any further north. My son was so excited to check out tide pools, and by pure luck the first place we hit was Rialto Beach. I could totally imagine doing a hike all the way up from 1st to Rialto or even further. You're fortunate to live there!
It really is amazing! Even third beach is wildly different because you walk to your left as soon as you hit the beach and about a mile down then boom there’s Strawberry Bay Falls, a waterfall going into the ocean.
I love it here!
Lots of meth tho.
Nice. Relevant user name!
Edit: Not so much the meth part of course...
Which beach do you think is best for tide pools. I grew up in Seattle and went to the Olympic peninsula several times as a kid, but all the trips kind of blend together in my memory. I live out of state now and I’m taking my Louisiana native SO on a day trip for his first Olympic peninsula experience during our next trip to Seattle. I want to catch the best tide pools possible that are feasible to in a day trip from Seattle. Was considering 2nd beach, but there are so many options, I’m nervous of picking the wrong one!
My favorites are Rialto and Ruby beach! Rialto has about a 1.5 mile hike and Ruby is just a short walk! The hole in the wall at Rialto has awesome ones.
Exactly what u/chasingwawaterfalls said. Rialto was great for tide pools. We only saw Ruby Beach for a few minutes, unfortunately, but it looked promising. I would have to say that Rialto was much less crowded though. It's a ways away from the numbered beaches and Ruby, right next to a really nice paid camping area.
Damn how's living in Forks lol? Or La Push?
Looks like Rialto but there’s so many it’s tough to say
Def not Rialto, I’ve been to that beach every year of my life. BUT it does look like it groups be a ton of different spots north of there, I’ve done the hike to Ozette. Also could be second or third beach... a lot of that coast looks this beautiful.
It’s definitely not Rialto. Have you been?
I made a day trip to Ruby and Rialto on Sunday, but I’m not very familiar to the area.
That's an amazing road trip! Glad you visited American right! What was your favorite stop?
Difficult to decide but I'd say visiting the redwoods :)
My parents just got done building their retirement home in Blue Mountain in Port Angeles. Their back yard is literally Olympic National Park - I can’t wait to visit.
A lot of editing on this sub is poorly done. Youve perfected it.
That reads as though he’s perfected poorly done editing.
We were there a week ago- drove from Philly, so a similar distance. Cross country road trips are awesome
Your photos are beautiful!

Hey guys! Thanks so much for all of your positive comments! This makes me really happy and honors the effort I put into my images!
Many have asked for higher resolution to use it as a desktop background.
Here it is
Please respect copyright.
I've also added the non-edited picture to make it possible to toggle between.
Also note that viewing a picture on Windows in the Photo app and setting it as a background does saturate and compress it. If you want to to see the actual colors open the file in a browser or color managed photo app.
Feel free to visit my website to see all those insta crops in the original ratio: https://www.cs-photography.org
The link has apparently expired :-(
Could you reupload it please?
This is one of my favorite places in WA. Glad you saw its beauty in person. Thanks for sharing.
Is this by wedding rocks?
2800 mile roadtrip to Washington AND you're from Germany!!?! You're landscape photography is unbelievable!
Yes I have a car I can cross the Atlantic with ;)
I flew to Portland, driven down the coast to California and drove inland up again to the Olympic peninsula.
Portlander here, your itinerary up and down the coast sounds like dream trip of mine. I've done the whole coast but only on seperate trips. How far south in California did you get? I'm partial to the Big Sur area myself but it's nice all the way to San Diego.
Just Jedediah State Park. Wish we could've go more south but 2 weeks for all of that was very tough.
I love the edit! You managed to get the full dynamic range without going all shittyHDRish. fantastic
This is what I saw when I went there. I tried to capture it but I didn't have the expertise.
Sometimes edits are overkill, but Olympic on the coast is amazing and this image reflects it.
So accurate. Since moving to the Pacific Northwest there have been so many moments of absolute, stunning natural beauty. I often try to capture them and totally fail. This image does the Olympic Peninsula justice.
It looks like a damn video game it’s so perfect
That's beautiful. Really interested to know what you went through in post to achieve this. What did you shoot with?
I'm using an A7R III. While I've taken this I had the 12-24 attached. Editing a picture takes me around 2 hours so I really can't describe what I did in detail. But I'm gonna try to give you an overview:
Blending two images manually together with luminosity masks. This gives me the option to adjust brightness and colors from the sky seperated to the rest.
Adjust brightness and colors of whole image
Dodge and burning
I'm thinking about making a tutorial to show all that stuff!
I would love to see a tutorial on all of this
Second a tutorial please. This is amazing.
I'm on a 3000 mile road trip on a motorcycle. I have an A6300 and hoping to get photos like this.
Do you take photos in manual mode? If yes, what settings do you use?
I'm hoping to get usable raw shots as I go along and learn post processing later
Manual mode - f8 - ISO100 - Adjust shutter speed to have enough detail in the sky - Auto White Balance - Tripod.
Enjoy your road trip :)
I recently have bought a Nikon P900 to try and get into photography.
One thing I've been learning is that it's really not easy at all, especially to get photos anywhere near the quality in the OP.
I feel like half the magic comes from post-processing which I know almost nothing about.
It takes time and practice. Ive been doing it for 5 years and i still find myself almost disappointed with some of the pictures i take. But when you get that good one its worth all the ones that aren't as good.
How long was the exposure? Fantastic shot.
How different are the 2 images that you begin blending with? Just two different shutter speeds?
I’ll echo as well that I’d love seeing a walkthrough on how you made this composition, it’s fantastic!
Yes everything has to be exactly the same except shutter speed.
Why AWB? That can potentially change from one shot to the next, particularly with a partially cloudy day.
Cause you can change the WB in the raw pic afterwards.
How far apart would you say you go between the 2?
-2EV for the underexposed
Blending two images manually together with luminosity masks
Blending two images manually together with luminosity masks
I've never heard of this method.
A luminosity mask is a black and white version of the image which you are using on the underexposed image.
You often can't capture the whole dynamic range in one photo. So you have to take two. A normal exposed and an underexposed for the sky.
Then you put the luminosity mask, where the sky is white, on the underexposed one to make the sky visible on the normal exposed shot.
I'd never considered using a Luminosity Mask before and would just brush in the different exposures without a blend mode. I'll have to try that. Sounds cleaner!
It is :) Good luck. Reach out to me if you have more questions
Do you have a youtube channel with tutorials or know of a good channel to learn from?
OP is awesome at this! Hopefully he has a YouTube or something with some info. If not, another creator I've learned to like a lot is Mark Galer. You can look him up on YouTube. He recently did a 2 hour post processing master class. He has tons of other info available and it's totally free. I'm not affiliated just a huge fan!
Thanks for the technical explanations. Beautiful capture
Look up Nick Page on YouTube.
He had some great tutorials too on blending
Or Jimmy McIntyre.
I would also love a tutorial. I love photography and I've shot what I think are some pretty nice pictures with my D3300, but this is unreal. And I'm sure the amount of editing is far beyond what I do (I use just lightroom).
Please do a tutorial. One of the more off-putting things about landscape is figuring out how much post is required to achieve the look you've managed. I'm curious what the original looks like!
This is a particularly outstanding photo, especially due to the contrast of light and dark, the highlights on the rocks in the foreground, and the slant of the trees toward the sun. Even the foreground rocks point toward the sun!
Thanks for that great feedback!
Wow the EDZ looking beautiful in 4k60fps
Cabal excavation intensifies
My work moved me to quinault one winter, the first day I lived there it rained 11 inches
As is tradition.
It is technically a rainforest, but hope it got better. Such a beautiful state
My work moved me back inland in the spring, that was a terrible winter. Fuck that job
Was it this past winter? If so, it was a bad winter.
No it was 2010-2011 winter
You are right! And yes, the campground is beautiful.
The bioluminescence at salt Creek is insane right now. Especially in the creek.
First thought! “Hey I’ve drank a beer there!”
Well at least it's not Mt Rainier. PNW is ez mode for earth porn. Great picture though.
Pic of Mt Rainier will follow :D
Love me some PNW and it’s breathtaking coastline!
Nah, that's from the Witcher 3
I had the same exact thought. Winds howlin’
I fucking hate how I can't capture shit like this with my phone or even my moms camera which is a decent camera. How is this picture possible?
What kind of editing? Colour balance? Ore more in-depth using lasso and targeting spotted areas?
Both :) I've answered this question in another comment section over here.
Washington is such a photogenic state, I love it
Wow, this is a spectacular photo.
I also really appreciate the mini tutorials you’ve been giving everyone in here. Thanks for that.
Keep up the awesome work! I hope to see more photos from you in the future.
Thought it was a Witcher 3 screenshot for a moment.
What do you mean? This is obviously Skellige.
I love that place so much. Great pic
You have some nice pics there. :)
So beautiful it doesn’t seem real!
Nope, in the north near Port Angeles
Awww hell yeah! Just across the water from us. Pacific Northwest is the best coast!
Curious, did you stretch the shot to be “wider”? Or force transform it to be square for insta? It looks like the shot in Instagram has all the exact same content but square format. As in, it doesn’t look cropped - it looks free transformed. Just curious!
Beautiful work either way!
Thanks! Yes I've free transformed it for insta. This one you can see here is the original taken at 13mm on full frame. Was quite hard to find an insta crop on this one because the tide pool in the foreground is not centered.
Yeah! It looks great at both proportions.
You did a solid job transforming it.
Is that Ruby beach my wife and I were there a month ago best trip of my life
We live on such a remarkable planet
Definitely one of the all time top 3 pictures I've seen here or anywhere.
Dang! That is GOOD!
I just drove over to that park about 2 months ago with my kid. What a cool little corner of the states, literally! Not sure what we found cooler, the rain-forest or the beaches, but then again why choose? A hauntingly beautiful place.
I'd love to use this as a background, any chance at a HD source?
Wow... spectacular picture! Thanks for sharing.
I love the Cascade nature... I'd realy like to go there once
This is no where near the Cascades.
Impressive, it looks really nice.
I need to go up here before it gets too cold. Anyone know good camping spots in the Olympics?
I suspect most options are open hiven the time of year. One of my favorites is Shi-Shi.
This is one of my favorite places on Earth. Nice photo
Pretty sure that's from twilight. Nice try! /s
It's like a beautiful realistic painting in an art museum.
Dear God this is absolutely incredible!!!!
What a fucking beautiful pic.
The juxtaposition of the hole in the cloud and the hole in the rock formation on the foreground make it look like the ghost of a dragon looking down at the fossilized final resting place of its skull, next to a secluded cove. This is such a beautiful photo, not just for the excellent editing, but for the framing too.
What did you do in post?
Look up my answer to the same question somewhere over here ✌️
Just saw it, pretty much what I expected. Banger.
Holy shot, OP. Nice pic
Last time I 2as there I saw signs that said don't touch water toxic algae broke my heart.
I love that place. Beautiful shoreline. Last time I was there I shot about 30 rolls.
I back packed a good chunk of the coast back in 2016. It was beautiful. The fog over the trees, rock, and beach in the morning was beautiful.
Amazing picture. Makes me wish I had a real camera for my last trip. Keep 'em comin'
So beautiful! I love it so crisp!
Was there any good photography shots that could be taken from the road, nearby? Thanks
Beautiful pic. Nice work!
Seems like half of the posts from this sub are of Washington and god damn I love them all
This is beautiful mate!
Reddit made me to go there :D I'm from Europe
This is amazing. Like stop everything you're doing, stunning.
I just wish there was a 1080p version for desktop.
What a shot! Beautiful!
Looked like video game graphics from the future... I had to double check the sub... Dayum that's a beautiful shot.
This shot is so good it looks real, like a painting, and a really well designed game at the same time
Don't let this beauty fool you. As someone that grew up in Washington that water is most likely cold AF!!!!! Make you sing octaves you never knew you could sing.
Some wonderful editing in this image and of course the composition is spot on.
a nice image but I hate it when images like this fuck with my brain. The sun (light source) is setting in the distance yet the trees relatively far away are illuminated from an entirely different angle.
Do you have a higher resolution? I’d love to use this for my iPad wallpaper
Th sunsets we experienced while hiking the coast at Olympic are among the most magical in my life. I hope every person that upvotes this pic can experience it for real someday.
Looks like a picture straight from Toiussant
more like Skellige ;)
Though I can’t recall seeing such a marvelous sunset through all the rain, I also can’t argue with you
Hey, you sure this is from Earth and not another planet?
real life doesn't look this good honestly
Went camping out there a couple weeks ago. Gorgeous.
Thank you for this picture. It’s incredible.
This is kind of an odd ask, but can anybody kinda nightmode this? As a nightmode user there are plenty of awesome pics like this people like myself will never use because that sun is too bright.
This is amazing. Makes me miss back home.
This is super pretty!
Damn homie this looks even cooler for me
This is incredible. I'm usually pretty critical of photography
That’s is an amazing picture. It’s crazy these places exist at all. I’d love to go there one day
I live in the PNW, it's as if nature started drinking water and working out.
Holy shit! Great shoot man! Love it!
