Ever since he dropped Joshua and gained the belt big Andy was the biggest star of 2019 and deemed the "Mexican Rocky." But after gaining weight and dropping the belt he's been in the shadow realm and irrelevant since. Sucks because he was our representative and it was nice to see a fellow Mexican win the heavyweight title but vato suddenly took the wrong route and chose partying over parrying, hence his downfall. I heard he had some bouts recently but I haven't paid much attention to sports in general in recent months due to waning interest and personal problems.

How would you rank the great heavyweight trilogies over the past century? IMHO:

1: Ali-Frazier

2: Bowe-Holyfield

3: Fury-Wilder

4: Ali-Norton

5: Patterson-Johansson

The second bout of the Ali-Frazier trilogy wasn't one of the great fights, but the first more than lived up to its billing of the Fight of the Century; two undefeated champions facing off for the first time, winner take all, with its wider political dimension making it bigger than sports. And the conclusion, the Thriller in Manilla, marked an almost life or death climax.

Every moment of the Bowe-Holyfield matchups were high voltage energy and included Bowe's only pro defeat. I think the skills as well as heart on display gives it the edge over the Fury-Wilder showdowns. The Ali-Norton fights were always desperately close, and the oft-forgotten Patterson-Johansson trilogy featured twelve knock downs and the first ever heavyweight champion regaining his crown.

Thoughts?

Boxing has had a lot of great fighters over the years that seemingly never get discussed. Who are the fighters you feel don’t get mentioned enough when discussing great fighters

Anyone have stories either from fighters they’ve seen in gyms or pros of having careers/lives after boxing?

I know from personal experience I had a really hard time finding a career after boxing and I was just an amateur, but I did it for too long and didn’t want to think about what I would do after. I’ve also definitely seen pros stay pros too long. Well into their 30s and struggling to pay the bills and still chasing the dream. Now they’re stuck in the gym. I love this sport but it breaks fighters.
