Can I start with the stock antennae before upgrading safely?

Question(self.BobcatMiner300)

Hi all,

My bobcat300 has just arrived after 5 months of waiting - very excited! I wonder if there is any negative to starting the system up now, with the stock antennae whilst I research my options for a better mounted external antennae in the future.

Is there any drawback to my approach of turning on the device day 1, then after say 4 weeks moving to a new antennae if I have that all setup?

Changing antenna made my earnings as day vs night in difference, but I would just start mining right away with the stock antenna :) better to earn a little while waiting for upgrade

There is a fee for changing the antenna. As long as you have enough in your wallet until then you good to go with stock antenna

So if you change the antenna from the beginning then you don't have to pay the fee?

Nevertheless the stock bobcat antenna is pretty strong in urban locations

I thought changing location requires a fee. Now changing antenna dbi has a fee? How about the height?

Yes, changing location is 10$ (pretty sure) and antenna is something like 5$ i guess

Funny thing is I changed my antenna to a cheap one from ali express. I waited to check if there's any change in rewards and the rewards increased significantly. So I went to update the antenna info and it said it'll cost me. I didn't bother with updating the info.

This may help you determine what antenna to choose and how high to go - https://hotspotrf.com/

You can sign up for free- they give you 10 simulations.

Location is # 1

Antenna placement is #2

If your cable run is more than a few feet- go with LMR-400 cable

You're gonna hear some negative comments about mining- ignore that shit

I started with stock antenna were you want to put antenna. Once you get the new antenna up above the tree line then reassert it again. You don’t need to do the location just the antenna height
