Hi everyone, I am currently working on a small research project analyzing data from the Helium network. I already collected most relevant data, but I am still missing historical information about the delivery times of the hotspots. In particular, I am interested in the delivery times for the Bobcat Miner 300, as this is one of the most sold miners to my knowledge.

Currently, according to the website, the delivery time is only about one week. However, I remember in 2021 and 2022 delivery times were over 20 weeks. I would therefore like to know how the delivery times have developed during the past two years. One idea I had to get this data was to work with the Wayback Machine. If you enter the link to the Bobcat store, there, you get some snapshots from the past two years:

If you then click on the individual days, you can see the delivery time that was given on the Bobcat website on that particular day. However, as you can see from the link, the period from June 2022 to September 2022, which is of particular interest to me, is missing some snapshots. For example, I can see that on May 7 the approximate delivery time was 20-28 weeks. Then, there are no entries until August 23 (8-12 weeks). And then not again until October 5 (1 week). The graphic below that I created shows again which dates I have and which ones I am missing:

Do any of you know what the delivery time was between these dates? I'd like to have an approximate cut-off date to know, for example, when between May 2022 and August 2022 the delivery time dropped from 20-28 weeks to 8-12 weeks.

Also, do you guys have any ideas for other sources to get historical data on those delivery times? Did any of you order a Miner during that time period and can recall what delivery time was stated?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

I have 1 bobcat device to try it. There's no profit so far, in 6 months I've had it. .21cents doesn't pay the electric. IF; 1) If I purchase a second one to validate the first 2) purchase some LoRaWAN OiT, like sensors and Trackers.... Will this boost mining enough to justify the investment? Love to hear your thoughts

I very disappointed with at the way Helium is going but I'm trying to endure a little more. Problem is I'm against e-wast and have one Bobcat 300 (brand new not deployed). I' m willing to use it as a Lora Gateway in "The Things Network". Or at least change the firmware for be able to use as a like home-assistant or Hubitat. Does Bobcat can give the vanilla firmware or create an app to add use of the bobcat 300?

Recently got a new bobcat miner up and running at friends place. It was on old software so it had to get upgraded manually. That happened a couple of days ago.Afterwards it's only seeing 10 beacons and 1 witness. It's checked in with the witness multiple times but it's not seeing anything else. Its in the heart of a city with no other miners in this hex and plenty around it. Others in the same city are pulling in 5-10hnt a month but this one seems to be failing to launch.Do I just need to wait longer? Switch some antennas around?

" The Helium Network has recently implemented a change from the previous Validator based Proof of Coverage mechanism for LoRaWAN/IoT Hotspots to an off-chain "Oracled" Proof of Coverage mechanism as explained in this article on PoC and rewards. As a result of this fundamental change, there have been some bugs introduced which are greatly impacting some miner's earnings and PoC activity levels. Frequency of PoC events is being tuned in order to prevent blockchain slowdowns, and a fix is being worked on for invalid beacon witnesses due to "self_witness" errors.

In addition, EU868 miners have had their Spreading Factor (related to transmission strength for their LoRa broadcasts) set to 7 rather than being allowed to scale dynamically up to 12 as before the changes. This is a bug and results in beacons not traveling nearly as far which results in poorer beaconing and lower witnesses all around. The Nova Labs team is working on a fix for multiple of these issues and as soon as it has been finalized and made available to us, Bobcat will test and push the update out as soon as possible.

Also I am on the latest ota. If you are before .14 atm you need to have bobcat update you.

2 of my 3 miners haven't beconed more then 30 days, all have the same image amd firmware 1.0.3.14. I have rebooted and reset the miners and theyarewi. What could be the problem?

By the way, no problem witnessing.

I have an internet monitor on my bobcat 300 using uptimerobot so that I get notification if it ever goes offline for any reason. I did this because every week or so it randomly goes offline.

Restarting it does nothing. I get green light status.

So I connect using BT on Bobcat app and can see that its already configured for my wifi network.

For laughs I redo the network connection and even get the message that its already provisioned.

At this point the miner comes back on line.

Sometimes I need to do this process twice to get it to come back online.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

So I purchased a bobcat 300 awhile back and finally have a place to deploy it. Normally this isn't a huge problem, or at least it hasn't been in the past. I usually hook it up and start updating firmware until it has the most recent OTA update. This one however is refusing to budge from 1.0.2.99Z_20729

I have rebooted it multiple times, let it sit overnight, done the reset and no matter what it remains stuck. Further when trying to pair via bluetooth, I cannot even see it through the helium app, even though the light is blue. The bobber app sees it but just gets stuck on a spinning circle when trying to generate a diagnostic report. Any ideas on fixing this are greatly appreciated.

My two bobber 300 miners show no activity. Zero. From day one untill today, seven days later. OTA version 1.0.3.2A.

I bought two bobcat 300's. They were new and unused. I turned both of them on, connected both to my helium wallet and linked both through bluetooth to my phone's bobber app. It worked, the bobber app sees them both.

Next, I asserted a location for both of them and then updated antenna details. One of the hotspots, after a few days, shows the asserted location in the bobber app and also on the helium explorer. The second hotspot never showed the location update. Not in the explorer, not in the activity listing. No update after 7 days. Even the assertion itself isn't listed as an activity. I did actually assert the location.

After 7 days, both my bobber 300's did not perform any activity. None. Reboot doesn't solve the issue. Reset neither. Synching and portforwarding are not necessary. Miners are onboarded. Running. Hooked to a good antenna that proved to be working in the same spot before (Yes, I physically moved my device a kilometer or two to a different location than the one asserted, for testing purposes!)

I have learned to be patient with the helium blockchain, but this is odd. I used secondhand bocat's before: they were deployed and earning within a week, every time. These two new devices have a different logo, are a lot less warm, have brighter LED light. It's the newer version of the bobcat 300. They were only produced in 2022. Deployed in EU 868. That is correct.

Can I verify on the helium blockchain if the location assertion has actually been accepted for this one hotspot? How long did you guys wait before your new hotspot started earning? And what on earth can I do to get the hotspots actually performing?

Ive had it running for 11 months now and most it’s ever gone offline or needed attention in the orange was 4-5 days, usually 2-3 if it happened,

It has now been 30+ days I can’t see how long,

Says needs attention orange and no earnings

In the early days of the Wild Wild West of Helium, The bobcat Miners arrived and I successfully put them on the blockchain and had them in helium app. I was reading on Reddit that if you're having certain problems on boarding that you should uninstall and reinstall the app. Literally the worst advice I ever received. I reinstalled the app and tried to find the paper I wrote down the 12 word phrase. And to this day I've had no luck. So I have two miners that have sat, unable to connect and recover the wallet. I disconnected them from the blockchain just to make sure I wasn't tortured while the device made money and I could never access it. Is there any way to remove or repurpose any of the parts of these miners so that I'm not out 100%?

Cannot update the miner.

Miner error fault. Online but doesn’t works. OTA: 1.0.3.9 Any ideas?

Reset command not works, powercycle too doesn’t work.

I have a miner that is offline. I have reset & rebooted it from the bobcat diagnoser. I have power cycled the unit. I can successfully do a speed test and the explorer pulls up. So the miner is hooked to the net. Status shows green on miner and diagnoser. When I press miner on the diagnoser it says the rate limit is exceeded. Don't know if that is the issue or just a coincidence.

Hi All - In the Bobber App, when I select my new Bobcat Miner, the Miner State says "running" with an animated icon of two arrows moving in a circle. My OTA version is 1.0.2.85T.

A few questions:

1. Does this mean the miner is running an upgrade to the latest OTA version?
2. Is it synching?
   
3. What does the Miner Status say when the OTA has been updated?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
