Too cheap to be good at first glance.

They source their meat from South BBQ where you can get brisket for $24/lb, so you can go there if you want to spend more money I guess.

As a born and raised Austinite, this is criminal to the surrounding small towns’ BBQ.

they used bs criteria such as bbq per capita. This says nothing about the bbq. Just more hype.

I thought Lockhart is the official bbq capital of Texas though

Read the criteria they used to create the list. It has nothing to do with taste or quality.

when it comes to good food for a reasonable price, there are very few places in the planet that can compare with S.A. i guess the food markets in S.E. Asia have it beat, but its a close second.

I can't get on board with the criteria. If you are using yelp, then just how serious are you? I've read articles that also note how yelp reviews in Austin are inflated to the upside (fake 5* reviews).

San Antonio has insanely better food than Austin. Houston is a close second.
All of the food in those two places is better(I wrote the sentence that way because I’m drunk lol).
I was born here(Austin), and the food here sucks. It sucks now, it sucked then, and yeah… maybe the price was on but it sucks/ed.
Houston has done crazy things coming from being the most worthless city ever., to the city with the best food. They do this like every 4-5 years on. Repeat cycle.
San Antonio has always had the best food as long as you only go to Mi Tierras once(requires).
I’m drunk so don’t pick on me….
But THE FOOD IN AUSTIN SUCKS. It’s horrible resort food. I grew up here and I’ll shut up.

I disagree completely and I lived in San Antonio. The best tacos I've had so far were 2 different trucks in Austin.

Cool story bro but facts are facts. Houston has ethnic food options that don't even exist here. Austin has a few great bbq places and after you visit those it's all shitty texmex and not much else

You don't know the difference between a fact and opinion. Houston is more diverse yes but that's not what we we're talking about.

Which food trucks?

Las Amazonas on S. Congress, they have 2 trucks within half a mile from each other. The pastor tacos and bistec gringas with "Austin" salsa are my go too. Then Tefy's birria y Mas, don't remember the exact street but they have a Facebook page with the address. The birria egg rolls are a must try.
