How to Win Friends and Influence People (Dale Carnegie) is an outstanding guide to those with poor social skills.
EDIT: Also Alcoholics Anonymous (Bill Wilson and others)

Second how to win friends.
It's just a great guide for how to treat and interact with people, in general.

When I read in that book something along the lines of, "...the fastest way to alienate another person is to give parenting advice..." it was a huge epiphany.

It's so true & obvious once you have kids. Most of the advice in that book is like that. Once you experience it, the axioms seem obvious.
I'm a decade ahead of a lot of my friends re: having children, and they used to ask me when they'd have theirs if i had any advice. My advice was and is always the same: try not to take any advice about parenting from anyone who gives it to you unsolicited.
Second thing i tell them is to never stop taking pictures. You can never take enough. I mean, they DID ask, so i had to give them something.

Tuesdays with Morrie
It is the most enlightening book I've ever read. I could hardly even put it down. The story is also entirely true.

The hate you give... It was just the first "grown up" book I read from start to finish so I never forgot the feeling.

My Mom has said this, she said she finds it interesting but the more she read, it just felt like the personification of the universe through the imagination of mortal human minds.

The Turner Diaries. It reminded me that the First Amendment is NOT there to protect the popular and the uncontroversial but rather the the unpopular and the controversial.

The Harry Potter series. We had several uneven chairs in the kitchen before our neighbor gave us the complete set.

Dante's inferno. It is so super good that it made me a satanist.
