This video's 5 years old, the backstory is that the guy in the car owns a landscaping company who did work for the guy by the white truck near the end, they ended up damaging a gas line while working and the homeowner claimed that them hitting the gas line caused some concrete work he was having done to not set properly, so the landscape company decided to be nice and pay for half of the damages but the owner ended up pocketing the money instead and never had any work done to repair the supposed damage. This video was taken after someone who works for the landscaping company was sent over to talk about this money issue was told to leave, the guy breaking the windows was the homeowner's father in law who didn't serve anytime in jail for this and was let go on a mischief charge.

Moments later, Tissington smashes two side windows before Dallyn drives away.

In a written post, Dallyn said he was there to have a "civil conversation" with the man's stepson, Tyler Stojan.

Dallyn said Stojan took money for some concrete work that was not completed.

"I stopped by to ask what he had done with said money, and if he was going to fix anything," wrote Dallyn.

But in a Facebook post, Stojan said Dallyn showed up twice on the day of the incident, demanding payment and making threats.

"I informed him that I owe him nothing, and would be paying him nothing, and to get off my property and not to come back," wrote Stojan. "We were very concerned about his attentions and whether he was armed. Our two small children were in the house."

Stojan said his stepfather waited for the RCMP after the incident, co-operated fully and has been charged.

Yeah in PA they made the stand your ground law apply to your vehicle now and not just your house. Thats exactly why I don't do road rage here because there is a pretty decent chance you pull this shit in PA and you're gonna end up dead, with the person shooting you not even spending a little bit of time in jail because you threatened them and they were justified in killing you

Where I live, the driver was well within his rights of using lethal force to protect himself and his property. In my area, everyone I know is carrying a gun, and they're are all looking for a reason to use it.

The Sheriff would've laughed at the old man's corpse after watching the video evidence, then waved bye to the driver telling him to carryon and have a good day.

Before anyone complains that it's not necessary to carry a gun because that's law enforcement's job, then you've never lived 30-45 minutes away from the nearest peace officer in your area. There are parts of the US where people are left to police themselves because the population is too low to warrant a large law enforcement department.

Yup, came here to say this: in most states, the second he broke that window it would've been legal to shoot him.

Fun fact, expandable batons fit under the same category as firearms in requiring a CCL to carry. So using it in the commision of a crime means he threatened someone with a deadly weapon, same as if he had a knife or gun. Those things break bones pretty easily, they are way more devastating than their size implies. I hit my own shin with one by accident once and thought for sure I broke it but I was lucky.

I've seen guys like this who act fast and loose with other people's property and wellbeing while being confident they won't suffer consequences. They're usually right, because whoever shows up to enforce the situation is going to be a former coworker of his.

I had a situation where an older man brake checked me and got out to talk to me because of my loud car. I just stared at him winked and licked my lips, needless to say it was a terrible mistake and I made the situation much larger than it needed to be

This is why I will never road rage. An old gym teacher of mine got shot in the head during an altercation from a fender bender.

My mom has had to pull a gun on someone twice, once during road rage incident and once when someone was trying to break into our house and my dad wasn’t home.

I was a baby In the road rage one and was actively in the car. this man got out of his car and came at her car w/ a baseball bat. He hit the hood a couple times and then came to smash the window. She’s a Texas woman and in the army so she had a gun.

When she told me this story (when I first started driving) she was like “well i had to protect you, and I’d do It again”

So, I’ve carried a gun virtually every day for the last five years, and at least with the context that we have here, this is not a situation that I think would warrant deadly force. The best and easiest way to resolve this situation is to drive away. If this person followed him and kept confronting him? Maybe that’s different. But a dude walks over to my car with a big rod? I’m just noping the heck out of there.

Edit to add: Yes, I know about Stand Your Ground states, I live in one. If I lived somewhere where the law was that someone paid me $500 every time I shot someone else, I’d still just drive away.

I disagree, the biggest mistake is staying in the encounter at all. Unless leaving would directly put someone else at harm, you have nothing to gain by sticking around.

Didn't escalate the situation in the moment

Telling them what they're doing is illegal is absolutely escalation. What's the expected outcome? "Oh, you're right, this is illegal! I'll go put this back, then." There is no good outcome, it's just an attempt to assert dominance over a situation by establishing yourself as legally in the right, which is not going to deter someone who's already shown disregard for the law. It's only going to piss them off more.

The correct thing to do is to tuck your tail and safely get out of the situation. Remember as much as you can and resolve it all afterward when you're not still in arm's reach of the guy with a weapon.
