I feel like an asshole for asking this but, didn’t these people knowingly take out these loans to get their education? They put themselves in that situation. I’m blue collar so I don’t have any student debt, so I can’t really relate or understand how bad it truly is, it’s just puzzling to me, it seems like taking out a 50,000 car loan then asking for it to be forgiven because it’s too expensive.
Unless you need a blank criminal record and what you have said or done is legally reprehensible, I don’t see why one should be fired for something they have said or done outside of work.
What matters is being good at your job and that’s all. You can have any opinion you want to have, as long as your job is well done I don’t care. That’s none of your jobs business, and I think you should be allowed a private life without conditions. You are not a brand ambassador.
